Hi all

the PO on my hj60 installed a mechanical temp sender/guage and that seems to always read low at about 140F instead of 170-something.
I replaced the thermostat today, but so far it seems that it might still be hovering at 140 instead of higher.

After driving for a while, if I turn off the motor the temp climbs up a bit- almost 170. Sometimes at idle it runs a little hotter than 140, but not much.

So anyhow, I'm wondering if maybe it has something to do with where the temp pickup is located, here's a picture. All thoughts welcome.

rats. I was hoping for an easy explanation.
I thought the side of the thermostat housing was the factory location (so says the max ellery book). oh, well. I guess that's not the solution.

Any other thoughts?

well i could be wrong, it wouldn't be he first time, but on the two i have sitting here right now that is the location...

In general I'd put your knowledge ahead of the ellery book. Not very happy with that book overall.
Regardless-- even if it isn't the stock location, there is no reason to believe it is getting a bad reading on account of location.

Keep an open mind.;p The 2H may have the temp sensor in the thermostat housing in some countries like the F petrol motors.
