Hello Everyone,
Just checking to see if anyone can steer me in the right direction to get my 75 2f engine rebuilt. Looking for someone that has done a 2f engine before and hopefully in the New Orleans, B.R., Lafayette area.

Thanks a bunch,
Andre'

Welcome Andre, talk to Ricardo he's in New Orleans and restoring a 78. He met a guy who did great work that was going to rebuild his if I remember right. His email is pportmd@yahoo.com

His thread is here https://forum.ih8mud.com/la-bayou-state-land-cruisers/165838-78-fj40-resto-project.html

Andre, good to hear from you again. You need to make it to our next FJC meet and I want to see what you are up to with this 40.

Hey Mike,
Just sent most of the body to be blasted today. I have most of the outer parts of the engine off. Getting the engine rebuilt. I will take frame to be blasted and painted. Adding power steering, 4 inch lift, plus a bunch more. I should be finished by summer of 2025!!! I'm gonna try to make it to the next meet. Life keeps getting in the way.

Take care,
Andre

My buddy has a 06' Dodge diesel. He installed a 2 1/2 inch leveling kit and 315 tires. Now he has a vibration (not in the steering wheel) that increases with speed. The tires have been pulled and checked for balancing. Any of you Dodge guys had/heard of this problem?

LOL........Dodge 3/4 ton pickup. :bang: I don't drink coffee but maybe I should start.

These are BFG AT's.

I thought maybe it was something simple like our caster correction bushings on the 80 series.

Driveline maybe? About lost my drive shaft one time and it started out as a small vibration and go to the point where it was hurting my teeth and I couldn't see straight. Found out that a mechanic has the shaft off and never tightened it up. Started with tires, but realized it was more as it got incredibly bad!

Out of round?

Geometry after lift?

Interested to know what he finds, I think Josh may have a leveling kit on his and Ryan had one on his 08. I would have thought it to be in the tires too but the coil rigs are so temperamental to changes.

how many miles on the clock? as already stated:)
#1-drive line u-joints now at a diff angle worn or stiff
#2 drive line hanger bearing or the slip yoke
#3 bad tire out of round ,slipped belt won`t necessarly show up on spin balance
#4 trans support worn or broken

Sorry I don't know how many miles. I am thinking at least 75,000.

I was thinking the same thing about the u-joints. Thanks for all of the other possibilities for him to troubleshoot.

and the famous dodge death wobbel , but u will know that when t happens they say ,,,,,,, ryan old 03 dodge had a vibe after he lifted it 3 inchs and it was the front drive shaft front u joint , was jacked up so changed all u joints and was good after , might be the sAME

u-joint go bad and you cant tell until you push them past their normal range. A lift is just the help it needs to hit those bad roller bearings.

looking at a hydo steerng kit for mean green , not cheap but niceee , i see alot rigs u a cheap ram from like the tractor place ,, yall know any links to do this ? are can i just get a better pump and do it off that ?

Hmm....I remember reading a build about removing the restrictor plate in the stock pump and getting enough volume to run about anything. Don't remember where. They might have something in the pirate minitruck bible.

Good as gold and as rare as helium!

Make sure you run an oil cooler for the steering fluid, read alot of guys burning up pumps and rams without the volume/ cooling.
