hey guys just wanted to give yall an update on everything. well i got the alternator put in. pepboys charged 170 just for the install. i got screwed :/ but it was running again. 3 weeks without my truck i was so happy. sounded funny but it ran now. Went to see my girl in laffy, i was going south on 49, looked up and saw the light was red, it was raining so i hit the breaks and abs motor made a loud noise and then nothing, the breaks didnt even lock up, i just rolled into the intersection of jefferson, so i hit it and my mudder just spun, luckily the chevy saw me rolling into the intersection and slammed his breaks. :/

so i pulled in to the next lot disabled abs, and all was fine. on my ride to lake charles, broke down :/ in egan at the lions den lol. mom came picked me up, then i went back sat morning and got it. dropping it off at the shop monday, insurance will get another flood claim.

Wow, that could have been ugly. Being that I have old vehicles, I practice using my emergency brake every now and then (just a habbit).

well i figured there would be a failsafe on it to where they would at least lock up. i was wrong.

new from the shop

damage so far:
both front wheel bearing are shot, i just paid Toyota 800 bucks to get the front right one replaced. The shop it's in now is doing both for 500, man did i get ripped off. kinda reminds me of the quiznos commercial "if your going to eat 5 dollars"

wheel bearing will go in tomorrow, then probably abs will need to be replaced, or fixed. Time to call up state farm:) since I'm going to file a claim on the truck, what should i do, get rear diff fluid replaced, whatelse should they check out?

I wasn't insinuating that that was what you should have done. I was just throwing it out there for guys in the club that didn't have a near death experience and in hopes that in that split second they would remember. I have practiced but don't know if I was actually in that situation I would be able to react like that. I do know that the e brake on my 40 is very awkward and I practice that one the most. One time the E brake did save my life. It wasn't at an intersection......I had plenty of time to react.

well thats what its for lol, i with i had a pull handel, i dont think i can maneuver my foot up high and hit the e brake the way its situated. well instead of switching to the e brake i hit the gas, and my mudders just spun.

:bang: I forgot most modern trucks have the foot E-brake. That would be pretty weird to press for having to applying the brakes without locking them up.
Hey giving it gas has got me out of almost every bad situation as well.

Here you go Davin, hope it helps.

Does anyone know locality where to get new shock bushings? I need them to fit some Dostech shocks on the Toyota.

You can get Energy Suspension ones at Caun Offroad (friggin hiklm <- missing letter broke on keyboard). also found some at either O'Reilly's or advanced auto

Lafayette Performance on Johnston St did sell Dostech shocks at one time they may have them or be able to get them for you. Ask for John he's a sharp guy and will be able to tell you off hand. Danny will have to look it up or will tell you he don't have them because he don't feel like looking. I can pick them up and get them to you if it'll help just let me know. :)

Larry, YES It would be nice for you to run the bushing down for me. I'll pull the shocks and the bolt and drop them off at the house after work one day this week. Thanks

anybody got any experience with the 1" uniball uper control arms. i just odered some SAW 2.0 coil-overs, and camburg UCA and not to sure how to install the UCA and change out the ball joint.

I did those on my FJCruiser. The UCAs are a pain in the ass to put on by yourself. I am in town today and tomorrow, can give you a hand if you want. I'll PM you my number.
