if i were to try and make my own custom UCA's where would i find uniballs and the cups that go with them?

if anyone is interested. i found out that you can order just the uniball from other places. i may be looking into making my own extended upper and lower control arms, like total chaos'.

YAY I was right!!! do I get a gold star like back in kindergarten?

Couldn't help myself

this is my first post i have been reading the site for a while but i am about to start modifying my 1982 fj60 so i need to order parts....... I live in Trinidad in the caribbean so i need to read a lot and order only once. i cannot afford to be ordering wrong parts beacause this is my every day driver.
is ti possible to tell if my rear axle is semi or full floating withour removing the differential cover?
also does anyone know how well the powertrax differential locker works and stands up to the punishment of serious offroading.

Welcome... I think most of your questions would probably be answered in the 60's tech section. However, you're welcome to hang out w/ us and see what we boneheads can come up w/ for you.

I think the US 60 series came w/ the semi-float. Not sure for your version that is a non-us rig. Also, know a few people w/ the powertrax.. no complaints. However, you may run into a bit of a learning curve using your "serious offroading" vehicle w/ an auto-locker in it also as your daily driver.

Good luck

X2 I believe the diesel's had full floaters but most of the US spec gas rigs were semi. Check the 60's tech on lockers there are also plenty guys running Aussies in 60's and 80's as daily drivers with no problems.

What is the difference between "heavy" load lift kit and "medium" load lift kit? Just checked Slee's page on the lift.

Weight you'll be hauling. I have the heavy front & rear when you start adding 140lb winches and 200lb bumpers you load the springs so they give you the med & heavy rated option on the springs.

Hmmm, wonder if I could put heavy on the driver side and medium on the passenger...seems to be more of an issue. .

There are sooo many things that I'd like to say in response to this comment. :D

However, it's just no fun if you make it this easy...

...like fish in a barrel.

X2 I'd bet its slightly plugged up. The axle has to vent so if the vents get plugged up the pinion or alxe seal will be where it goes next. On my 98 4-Runner a mud dauber made its nest over my axle vent and forced one of my axle seals to leak and wet the rear drum shoes. :meh:

I'ven been trying to get the 80 trip worthy before the christmas trip. Last week I had it across the st I ordered all the exhaust gaskets from Musson for the manifolds back and with no time on my hands to do it myself I let Midas accross the St do all but the manifold gaskets. Now it seems restricted like its a bit clogged up and they think the cats are bad and the engine code I'm fighting could points that direction as well. My question is can I go catless on the 80 or will the ECU freak out? The exhaust is the factory stuff minus the resonator I removed and the tail pipe from the muffler back. I had to trick the Evo I use to race by welding a bung and putting a spark plug non-fouler in place then the O2 so it did measure the exhaust gas but not in the volume of being screwed right into the pipe. I'm headed to the 80 tech to see if anyone has gotten creative over there. I hate cats.

Guess I'm getting rid of two for one cat tomorrow.

93/94 has two 02 sensors before the cats and would probably not throw a code. 95 and later obdii has a o2 sensor behind the cats to check cat effeciencty. Those trucks would throw codes if the cats are not there.

its not the seals its the actual vent that's leaking, is it still the same thing?
