Can I add my name to the list of attendees? also I am bringing a camera (video) to document the tech day and see if we can't start a video resource guide for cruiserheads.

I am a documentary filmmaker and have much of the equipment at my disposal, so I thought it would be interesting. have spoken with Sebastien about it and we are on the same page... everyone else okay with that? I promise no images will leak out that you don't want to be leaked to the press...

Sounds good to me, Dave!

Can I get some directions coming from 495? I did a map it on your address and it looks like you are over by route 1 after one heads down 95 South it looks like we need to head East. Just want to make sure mapquest is not sending me to the wrong place.

John, I think those directions are off.

Here are the directions that Doug gave me last weekend:

9120 Silver Pointe Way, Fairfax Station, VA. 22039

"My house is just 5 minutes from 95 South. Take the Lorton exit, make a right at the bottom of the ramp. Make a right onto Silverbrook Road. Go about 4 miles....cross Hooes road. Make a right on Silver Thorne, Right on Silver Line, Right on Silver Pointe."

That's what mapquest told me.

I had planned to be there but it looks like chances fading fast....:frown:

Yep, Follow those simple directions relayed by Felix and you won't have any trouble. If anyone gets lost..just call my cell number that I sent to the list.

Chaka..I think filming is a great idea. Glad to have you, too.

Let me be the first to say I thought it was a fantastic Tech Day, even though I had to bolt before the final nut was turned. I really learned a lot. Thanks to those who tolerated my stupid questions. I'll always remember it as the day of "crazy pizza" and being introduced to the "silver slapper". ;)

Ditto to what Dave said above. Had a lot of questions answered and now have a bunch more. Was definately educational and fun.

By the way, how did it turn out Doug? Did you find the parts and get it all done?

Damn, I missed "crazy pizza"?!?! At least I got to see the slap action. :D

Sorry, I had to leave so early. Did y'all get the right bearings? Was the job completed.

Sebastien was responsible for the "crazy pizza". Doug called virtually every auto place known to mankind. Eventually he found the correct bearings/seals at Fairfax Auto. Gave us plenty of time to drink beer.

I'll be the second to say that the tech day was a total success. A big thankyou to all of the guys that came out. I enjoyed working with you all and getting to know you a bit better. I hope the film, pictures and information that we put together from this will be helpful to the group.

The '40 is on the road again..and we all were able to learn something in the process.

I missed the "crazy pizza" too....I was out getting parts....what? Was the driver crazy or something??

Three cheers for James at Fairfax Auto Parts in Alexandria...and for Dominion Oak Barrel Stout!!

Cool, now let's see some pics!

That was a very instructional tech day!

It proved the point that even with the best planning, something can and will always go wrong... It turned out that Doug's 71 actually had later axle shafts in the rear axle and not the originals. That sent him on a part locating mission for later year rear axle bearings and seals which he was able to locate on a Saturday afternoon!

Some highlights I remember from the day.

Dan's "silver slapper" doing the trick of removing the bearings after Sebastien laid down some nice booger welds to break them free of the axle housing.

Sebastien introducing us to "crazy pizza" such as Thai & Mediterraean. Mmm. And to think I second guessed the chef.

It was nice to see the truck driving down the street before we all left.

Glad to hear it went well guys. Sucks I couldn't be there.... Dominion beer too... Maybe I could have rescheduled my sat. morning!

Turned out I was using the wrong attachment on the silver slapper. The lip thing I used is for pulling out seals. Coulda used the reversed jaws dohicky and had it out triple fast. DOH!

It was good to match faces with screen names. The pizza was appreciated!
