Talk me out of 315 cooper STT's with stock gears, also fitment and RPM?'s.

Nicholas, (and others) what suspension are you guys running with your 315's? I know that 315's will clear stock suspension on road, but you won't have any space for axle travel. I take it from your sig that you have OME 851/860's on your LX. I was thinking of going with the Man-a-fre OME 4plus 3" lift instead of Slee's 4" lift on my LX to get around some of the geometry problems that can occur after the 3" lift benchmark. (The Slee kit though more comprehensive is also twice the price and may not be necessary if I only lift to 3").

Not trying to hijack the thread, but are you happy with your lift/tire combo? Is 3" adequate for 315's (I'd imagine it would be)? Any rub issues?

OME Med (~2.5") + 1" body lift fits 315's very nicely.

Zero rubbing in the front, barely rubs rear. I would go with the OME L's or convert to eye/eye if I had the opportunity to.

Nicholas, keep us updated on the 315's. I think you have a tranny temp gauge, so what temps are you running now vs. w/ previous tires?

Good luck on residency.

Somewhere I have the results from a wear study done on auto trans, need to find and post it. IIRC the wear numbers were higher at 120F than 200F, with the sweet spot being 150-180F. This is why most systems run the fluid through the air cooler first, then the water cooler (radiator), the radiator helps to heat the fluid, get the trans up to temp in cold weather.

One of the problems with a cool running unit is, they are much less efficient at evaporating out moisture. Moisture in the oil converts to acids and other contaminants, so the best plan is to change fluid more often to combat this.

Thanks for the answer! If you could find those results and share them I'd appreciate it.

Nice looking truck Nicholas! These things look great on 35s.
