Driving up to Robber's Roost (near Hanksville) with some co-conspirators tomorrow from Flagstaff.

I'm looking forward to checking out the new Super Walmart there!

And back in FLG after an exhilarating trip to... well, not the middle of nowhere but in the same zip code.
Robber's Roost was a hideout for The Wild Bunch, starring Butch Cassidy. It is located east of Hanksville, Utah, and is very remote but relatively easy to drive to.

Toughest part of the trip was on Smoky Mountain Rd. from Big Water AZ to Boulder UT.

Smoky Mountain Road begins a bit north of Big Water AZ, on U.S. 89 between Page, AZ and Kanab, UT. Some fairly serious sections, with rocks, narrows, stream crossings (thankfully dry this time), and occasional steep ups and downs.

Our first night camping was at a spot overlooking Lake Powell. We were surprised to see fireworks being launched from the shore - the show went on for an hour or so. Other than that display, it was completely dark, no other vehicles, and the Milky Way was visible overhead. I had some concern as to the off-road capabilities of our 2013 200 Series, particularly since the leader of our little expedition was driving his built 80, but I was pretty happy with how the 200 handled the terrain.

Mostly.

In the morning, we returned the vehicles to traveling mode, and proceeded north up Smoky into the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument.
More to come...
