I stated that I want to like the C 2.8L but I would take the wait and see approach. I've said it before as well. I did not wish to cause a diesel vs V8 debate on your thread Del. I have confidence that you will research you decision thoroughly before jumping in.
 
I have driven 70 80 and 200 series TOYOTA diesel land cruisers and they were all horrible at best. None of them are close to the feel and power of my diesel in my f250.

The best diesel anything (I also drive a lot of diesel ford rangers and diesel Chevy mid size trucks), I have ever driven was this little bad boy.

I think it had to do with the fact that it is a turbo diesel and the truck is relatively light.

The other diesel Hilux I have driven not turboed and were good to drive but didn’t have the kick that silver truck had.

I agree with Al that the 40 or one of my mini trucks for that matter, are the perfect candidates for the 2.8 Cummings swap.

Now if I was talking about my 80? That would be an LS swap for sure.
