Hello all.

I'm getting back into the cruiser game. Had a really sweet pzj77 previously, but my health went downhill and work was no where to be found. Ended up having to take a big hit on it and liquidate. I regret.

But here's a 1987 bj70 that's listed near me:

8500 CDN
209000 km

3.4L 3B diesel engine
209K km's (129K miles)
5 spd manual H55f transmision
RHD
24V electrical system
24-12V dc-dc convertor
trailer hitch, 2" receiver
Pioneer stereo w Alpine speakers
Japanese Aluminum roof rack
OME shocks (ready for lift kit)
Front PTO winch (transmission driven)
Bush bar

Recent upgrades include the following:
Exhaust system replaced end to end
Brand new 2 new Interstate 12V batteries
Brand new BF Goodrich M/T's 255/85/R16 with Toyota metal rims (silver)
150W KC Daylighters

Recent repairs include the following:
Knuckles just rebuilt on both front sides, June 2014
New front brake lines, June 2014
PTO seal replaced, new fluids in front differential and transfer case, June 2014
New clutch assembly, 2012

Around 10k is my purchase limit.
I live up in northern BC, so I need something that will handle the snow and crap road conditions.
Do some mild to mid off roading.
I'm a single fellow with a dog, and no interest in kids, so that's a non issue as far as the short wheel base goes.

Opinions?

And I apologize if this should be in the classifieds. Not sure on that one. I should just read the FAQ.

I don't see the price, but if you are OK with RHD, I would look for other options. As said above--BJ74 is a great option. Longer, more cargo room, 13B-T

Having owned both the SWB (BJ71) and the MWB (BJ74), I would try to find a good BJ73/74.
My .02 worth

The longer WB 73/74 is a much more useable vehicle and, in my opinion, better proportioned. The 70/71 looks too "compressed" in my (tainted) view.

I remember seeing this exact one for sale using the same pictures a year or two ago. I think for cheaper too. That could be something to consider with this one as you may be able to get it for a lesser price.

A 73/74 Does look like a lot of fun but you do pay more for them since as you have noticed everyone likes and wants them.

Have you seen this?

Direct injection motor with factory turbo with the same features as what you found but about a grand cheaper. A Land Cruiser is not like buying a loaf of bread where all the markets sell the same thing. Even though this is further it could be worth it. I flew to Manitoba and drove mine back while others have waited months and even over a year for the right cruiser to come up for sale.

Thanks for pointing that one out. Searching all of craigslist is such a chore, even with the pages designed just for that.

I'm chatting with the fellow about his sale. Perhaps :)

And yes, I agree that there's a premium on the longer trucks. I have no problem with the smaller form factor, especially when you figure in a solid roof rack. I drive a matrix right now! Packing smart works for me.
