^^^ I second what he said. It's just for looks no real protection.
Does anyone know where I could find a set of tail light guards?
Thank you! Please feel free to text or email me with your contact info. My cell is 870-613-2663I have a pair that came off an '04. They're clean, no rust. I re-screwed the bolts to fill the holes in the tail gate so you would need those and the little part with the stickum that sticks to the side of the light (came off as I removed them).
Amen brother! This is not a very friendly forum. All that I asked was for tail light guards being for sale, not everyone's putting down the idea of someone wanting them. Geezhe knows all about the damage multiplication factor. he started the exact same thread yesterday. @El Cid even said he had a pair to sell for $30. don't know why a second thread on the same topic was necessary.
Case in point. Thanks! This is normal toughen up, everyone is trying to save you from yourself ... but some here are thinking about really wheeling the Hundy and those would do more damage then good. Lets walk thru the damage; you back into something sticking out of a bank and it bangs your tail light with no guard. You break your tail light which is an easy replacement with options. Now on the other hand you back into something with the guard on and the guard collapses breaks your tail light and causes body / paint damage around your rear light. This story is real and is even worse when talking about the front light brush guards and it damaging thousands of dollars (hood, side marker, lights) vrs. it protecting anything... Anyway , post some pictures and start a build thread I always enjoy seeing cruiser evolution...
Honestly, put these things on your rig. But please make sure to come back and say "I with I had listened to everyone about these and the damage they do"
Lighten up FrancisThe OP didn't create two threads, he responded to an old thread then created a new one for himself. If the guy wants to put protection on his rig, thats his choice. As you noted, the statement about the potential body damage has been given. If you do not have anything productive to add to a conversation beyond that point, you are not furthering a "tech" thread any more beyond being on a soap box. I have guards on my 80 lights, any my truck is heavily used in the desert. Know what breaks my tail lights? The wife backing into the rolling trash cans. So I keep them on exactly for that reason. Yet, I always have to listen to this same speech. We have heard it, and accounted for it. Just because someone has proceeded after you warning does not mean you should take it personally or go after the OP, solves nothing.
The OP di, you are not furthering a "tech" thread any more beyond being on a soap box. I have guards on my 80 lights, and my truck is heavily used in the desert. Know what breaks my tail lights? The wife backing into the rolling trash cans. So I keep them on exactly for that reason. you.
