Tacoma rear axle...any benefit?

I have a chance to get a free Tacoma axle with an E-locker that only has 50K miles on it. is there any advantage of using this under an FJ40? I havent really seen an detailed info on anyone using them. I was interested in it for the locker if it could be used somehow.

Well you're going from a 9.5" ring gear to an 8" ring gear.

Ring gear will probably be fine. However it's a centered rear axle (stock 40 is offset) E locker is cool.

I had a taco axle in my 40 for a while. The added width was nice. However I snapped the rear axle like a twig..

Depends on how you use it honestly.

It might be free, but there will be a cost to convert everything to suit that centred diff, be cheaper to buy a Eaton e-locker to drop in the 40 diff?
