Tachometer Stopped Working (1 Viewer)

Just wanted to post a follow up for anyone who has a similar problem. The ignition control module was bad, but apparently it was only the tach signal that was bad. A tune-up took care of the random codes I was getting, and the engine was running fine but the tachometer was still not working. I swapped the Ignition Control Module with a new one, and presto the tach started working again. Interestingly, the first aftermarket ICM I bought from Rock Auto (Intermotor brand) was faulty...the engine would not start. I bought another ICM from Autozone, and that one did the trick. Hope this helps someone along the way. Cheers.
Thanks for the follow up!

Have any part numbers to share?

Part number for the Ignition Control Module is 89621-26010. I ended up ordering the OEM part from McGeorge Toyota online. Interestingly, I live in Richmond, where McGeorge is located, but their internet prices are significantly cheaper than walking into the actual dealership. It’s still a very pricey part...$376. However, I had two different aftermarket duds from RockAuto, and I think the one currently giving me issues was an aftermarket purchased by the previous owner. Bit the bullet and sprang for OEM. Hopefully, this one will last the remaining life of the truck.

One more thing...the Duralast I purchased from Autozone worked just fine if you are looking for a cheaper alternative. Part number JA1090. It was $225. But I figured it was worth it to go the extra $150 for OEM...and hopefully more reliability. And since the one I am replacing actually still works (just no tach signal), I guess I can keep that as a spare.

Sorry if this was answered already in one of the posts, but did you ever figure out what was the issue? As I am having the same issue. Drives and shifts fine, New igniter and dizzy were installed as well the other day. I am thinking but dont know if its just the tach as all other things are working as expected.
