Got 150' of 5/16" Rockstomper rope for my Bellevue. Used it a number of times this past week.

I think I heard somewhere where you should wash out the rope occasionally to keep grit from wearing the fiber down? This true?

Also- I need a snatch block for the trail box, anything special for synth rope?

Third- the rope came with a 10ft section of black sheath. Where on the rope should this sheath be? The base, wrapped around the drum?

Want to make this investment last... Thanks.

I would keep the sheath at the end of the rope. The sheath is used to protect the rope anywhere it would rub up against anything like a rock. So if you put the sheath at the end of the rope it's the first thing that comes out and easly positioned where it is needed.

Standard snatch bock should work fine. It won't hurt to wash out the rope and c
should help it last longer, this should also be done with tow straps.

The sheath location depends on whether it's supposed to be an abrasion sleeve or a temperature sleeve. On low-mount winches, the interior drum gets real hot so synthetic winch ropes often come with a sleeve to help protect them. It's not a problem for wire rope (obviously) and also not a problem for an upright with an external brake (like yours).

Snatch block is nothing special, but like fairleads, it -should- be one that's never been used with cable to prevent damage to the rope from small abrasions and burrs.

Thanks. Thats kind of what I figured.

I think I am going to move the sleeve towards the bottom of the drum, and if its needed unspool to get it. It was bunching up and making freespooling difficult. At one point I had to snatch the cable out with a fourwheeler.
