The fabrication shop my buddy works at has one of these, and I loved it. It was smooth and nice and worked better then any drill press I've ever used. So I started hunting for one about a year ago, Christmas eve I found one just down the road from me in really good shape. So today I went and picked it up. Super excited about it. I checked the serial numbers and it was built in 1948. The only thing I'm bummed about is that this one didn't have the foot pedal, but I never used it anyway, just thought it was very cool.

good score!!!

I picked up the benchtop version for my father as a Christmas present the other year. Nice little piece of iron!

Nice score! Google the DP 220 drill press, your will find a lot of information about it. I have one from 1944. Love it. I am sure you will enjoy too.

Btw, I have been hunting for a speed reducer pulley that goes to the middle. If any one see one extra...

Make sure you keep the quill well lubed. If you are looking for one, make sure to check the quill (the part that goes up and down) for looseness. They often get neglected and eventually the chuck will start to wobble and it will no longer stay true. Once the quill is worn, I don't think there's any way to repair it, and it's not like you can just go get parts for them anymore.

I went to a auction several years ago at a trade school in VT that was renovating their wood shop. They had several of these Delta drill presses up for grabs. Every one of them was very worn in the quill, they had probably never been lubricated, they were all junk. But it didn't stop people from paying stupid prices for them.

Yeah, I've used it a few times now and I'm very very impressed. Runs sooooo nice. Very happy with it.

I had been researching it a bit before I found this one. I loved the one at my buddy's shop so much I just had to have the same one. Took a while to find one, and I'm a bit bummed I didn't get the foot pedel, but they seem pretty rare.

And yeah, it weighs a lot. Had help getting it into the truck, but had to get it out of the truck and into the shed by myself. Not fun and even less fun because I've got a so so shoulder still.
