I bought a new Dobinson suspension kit - shocks, springs, steering stablizer.

I know it's awefully rusty under there! So I want to start in the rear, take out most of the suspension, wire wheel most of the rust off, paint with Coroseal, then spray paint with probably rustoleum unless there is a better suggestion.

I'M DOING ALL OF THIS IN MY DRIVEWAY!

Starting in the rear today. First step is to jack it up enough where the rear axel will drop far enough to get the springs out. Also, going to remove the spare tire and hitch bracket for more room. And spray down ALL of the rusty bolts.

I need to buy new control arm bushings, but NEED A SOURCE. I'm going to stay with rubber. Next few nights will be spraying everything down, then start carefully loosening bolts.

If anybody else have tackled rusy underneath and/or suspension work and has comments, I'd really appreciate it.

Joe

These are some of the most asked questions and literally been answered today😎

Partsouq.com for OEM bushings

Interesting about to redo all bushes including anti-rolls. Does anyone have a listing of all the bolts i need as the old ones (i suspect....) will be rusted to hell and it'll be Mr Reciprocator to remove them. Also need to replace the chassis bracket for the rear panhard as it sheared!

All the bolts will be listed right with the bushings on Partsouq.com

Come on folks this stuff is right at your fingertips 😎

A lot of the bolts are one time use anyway.

Fair dos. This is the list i've assembled of bolts and nuts. Washers i'm not inclined to pay Mr T's prices...

if your'e in the UK toyota have a direct shop on ebay that will assemble a specific quote for you. Let's see what the random number generator comes back with!

As you can see I'm a bit lazy. In my defense, I'm starting a new business. Getting back into it.

First will be the rear end. Plan is to jack it up high and put jack stands under the frame, then take the wheels and stabilizer bar so rear axel will come down as far as possible to relieve compression on the rear springs.

I'm guessing I can put jack stands on the frame just in front of the control arm mount. I'm a little concerned that I'm putting the jack stands too close to the center of gravity and there be teetering. But once I get it up, I can put other jack stands farther back in case.
