Anyone else have or had a big clunk when the suspension flexes? I've been fixing a million little things on this baby and this is one of the last that's been bugging me for a while.

It looks like the spring pack twists a little bit. First two are front drivers side extended. the third one is on a flat surface. Is this normal? I don't like the loud clunk when wheeling and the accompanying looks from passengers (wife) in regard to my expensive suspension.

If you find out how to make it stop you'll make a lot of us happy. I've found that greasing the sh*t out of the "pucks" between the leaves quiets it for a bit but that's about all. Apparently it's shifting of the spring packs.

Kind of get used to it...

Check the shackle bolts for wear........ seems like I remember a fellow on mud posting a popping or creeking noise when flexing or cornering.

Turned out his shackle pin were worn.

Good luck.

Definitely from flexing, not cornering. I did new ome shackles and bushings with the springs and there isn't and side to side bushing slip.

Good idea on retorquing the u bolts. I'll try that tomorrow morning and report back.

There will almost always be noise with polyurethane bushings especially when they get a bit of water on them. If they are coated in silicone grease, it will quiet things down, but not forever. It's normal.

Sure there will always be some noise but not a huge clunk. I retorqued the u bolts and that didn't do anything but I noticed the sway bar bushings were shot. I ordered some new ones and will see if that does the trick.

The noises can come from several places...

My noises go away after I grease the shackle and pins real good. It actually makes the clunk noise while I pump the grease in sometimes.

One day I'm going to pull it apart and see what the bushings look like...
