As an AHC user, I'll recommend AHC without reservation.

The
Hell no.....in Africa?!! Worst recommendation...ever. Think about it. if it fails and it does, where u gonna get the parts or expertise? How u gonna fix it in the middle of nowhere when it squats down to lowest setting ??
The expertise is there in town, but as you mentioned my real concern is the possibility of it dropping to bump stops in the middle of nowhere - is the 200AHC as delicate as the 100?

Or is just the safest/most logical solution to get normal springs.

I would take my AHC anywhere. Feel free to take advice from others too, as it's clear that I love AHC and @Madtiger hates it. For what it's worth, I've had 4 vehicles with AHC and never a problem with the system that has left me stranded anywhere, from Alaska to Panama. I've put on about 500,000 miles on AHC vehicles.

Toyota Tanzania in Arusha can get you any parts you need, and so can any number of dealerships in Dar es Salaam.

Standard suspension, no KDSS, no AHC will be the most robust just by virtue of mechanical simplicity. Fewer parts = fewer potential failure points. But AHC and KDSS are both very reliable systems, so it's not like you're dooming yourself by getting a more premium suspension. I think AHC will handle the holes and washboards the best of the three. No rust to worry about in Tanzania, which is the primary enemy of AHC :)

Well, KDSS is pretty robust. Rust on the valve main is the main issue (and even then it is 100% preventable with marine grease)…and if you take rust out of equation as you noted, then KDSS is perfect. Great articulation. Durability. Reliability. Good handling on-road (better than traditional and AHC). It outperforms traditional and more durable than AHC. Best of both worlds.

Especially for your use I would stick to the normal one. Drives very nice and comfy (with my normal OME stuff) and is beefy af. Less parts that can break = better. KDSS is nice and probably more comfy but if you have a problem you have a problem.
Absolutely nothing I dislike on my normal one. Maybe I will replace some parts and joints next year when I get a new set of tires (330k km on the clock and the car also had been many thousand km‘s in northern Africa)

@4x4tripping might disagree with you. His AHC equipped LC seemed to do just fine. I'll take real world experience over arm-chair expertise any day.

I would be favoring the vehicle that was in the best overall condition and had the best maintenance records. All of the LC/ LX trucks I have owned regardless of suspension have been very robust. AHC is fancy and convenient but not critical.
