Ok, so I didn't really plan on going, but I talked with Ali today and he is thinking that the family might fly out to LA, grab a rental car/vehicle and buzz up to SNT, and make a big circuit of visiting friends/family. Now he has me thinking about attending. I know it's a big loud party type thing, but I am kind of intrigued and had thought about going before talking to Ali.

I know Keith is going and Spressomon has attended a past event, is anyone else thinking about going?

Here is the link for the people that don't hang out in the trails/events section.

Yeulp... planning on checkin it out.
hundredes of cruisers and cruiser heads all in one location...I CANT WAIT. It will be pretty cool to put the names to the faces. If you go, will you drive, or fly? If you drive, would you mind if I follow you?
Still not sure if the lil woman is going to be going with.

If we go, we will drive. I was hoping you would want to caravan. Are you thinking of leaving Thursday or Friday?

Jack

I'll have to head down there in a couple of years. We used to tow people out of the creek in Pismo with my 55 when I was a kid. Fun place.

If you plan to camp, check out Montana de Oro, it's closer to Morro Bay than Pismo and a lot more scenic than either. No hookups, but if you're trailering you can dump for free over at Morro. I think the drive time to Pismo is around half an hour.

I'm pretty sure my wife's uncle still has a garage in Grover City, Ken's something or other, just up the street from the entry to the dunes.

hey Jack
I went in 06 and plan on going this year as well. It is a BIG party in a small section of dunes, but I'm having a hard time resisting towing the 45 down there and driving around the dunes with the top and doors off.

This time I may camp a little farther from the epicenter...

Im gonna try to camp the next pole over this year , Cruiseroplios is a very big place.
Its a cool event butt but... its kinda loud and you got freaking atv,s flying through camp at all hours
We usally go on thurs might try wed this year.

Well I think Im going ?.............................. ......... ....... ........ h o n e y .......................!!!...............

I put in for the time off, but I dont recall what days I had in for.
IIRC I think we were gonna leave Thurs.
Sounds like the :princess: WILL be going!:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:
I talked to her about it again last night...seems in her carb depleated state prepping for her competition, she wasnt as enthusiastic about the event as she was when I first mentioned it?
Im all for camping a little bit AWAY from the "TOWN".
Ill be driving the TACO and NOT the Crusier, so I shouldnt have any problems keeping up and getting there in a reasonable amount of time!:D

This will be FUN!

The Cruiser folks aren't really the problem. We camped out on the fringe and IMO its worse out there. That's where all the non-Cruiser beach goers run their loud quads and expansion chamber direct MXrs all night...literally!

If I do this event again I'll camp Wednesday and Thursday nights. We went down on Thursday in '06 and had a very nice time camping before the weekend. Come Friday and Saturday night (especially Saturday night) you'll find me in Oceano or SLO in a quieter place for sleeping.

But you youngsters don't know/care about sleepinteruptus just yet :flipoff2:.

Also be sure to take plywood or similar to protect against wind storms. When we drove in, on our first visit to Pismo Beach in '06, we wondered why in the heck everyone with any kind of RV had hauled plywood sheets in and set them ocean side on their rigs (it later became apparent the plywood helps keep the leeward side of the trailer somewhat protected from the ravenous winds that can develop here).

On Friday night we found out why: WIND! BIG WIND!!! I'm still digging sand out of dark places :D:D:D

A part from the occasional generator, our trailer city seems pretty quiet at night. I've not been waken by noise in all these years.

Hey, and don't forget about the Sand Chef competition.
We have a big surprise this year.

Regards

Alvaro

I must admit Alvaro warned us not to camp where we did...but to stay closer to ground center...but NO we had to learn it for ourselves:rolleyes:.

And being in Sand Chef was GREAT! I have my sticker on my AT Horizon...if I ever upgrade to their new clamshell it'll be a painful day just because of the darn sticker :)

Dan,

I may have one or two stickers left.
Let me know when you need one more.

Ooooo...perfect. Please save me one for my next trailer! Graci!

You cook???

:flipoff2:

You'd never know it by the results of that Sand Chef comp . I think we placed last . But Roberto and I did have a great time competing!

SOOOOO, whats the deal with the sand chef comp?
For food, you bring your own, right and just like the standard camp set up, you just BBQ/ cook right on the beach?
We were looking at getting a truck bed tent for the taco. Those look pretty sweet. However, we really do not wheel much in the taco when also camping, but that may change...Im stoked about this. It sounds like a really fun time, and again...I cant wait to meet everyone!

Keith you Might want to check this out if you havent all ready.

Its an edumatkational videeoo..

Ah yes, the sand and wind. It was hitting the tent so constant in 06, that I thought it was raining. I got out to check on our camp and P. May of Equipt was doing the same thing (It was like 3:00 a.m.).

It was pretty funny.

As long as I'm out of a job by then, I'm golden! My current gig in PA is dragging on over budget and six weeks behind schedule but I sure hope to hell that it's done by end of Oct and I get to be home in Nov and Dec.

I'm looking forward to attending this event, even for just a night or two.

Ali

I am thinking of commiting a huge atrocity and driving the ford/camper down instead of the cruiser. There should be enough cruisers out there to pull a stuck ford out of the sand, right? :flipoff2:
