Surco Spare Tire Rack

Mudders,

Searched the archives and couldn't find a thread on this...was wondering if anyone has experience with a spare tire mounted rack for carrying a cooler (I know Surco makes one: linked here). I have an OEM tubular spare tire carrier on a '76 FJ40. I'm always leery of weight on these body mounted hinges and will have a 33/10.5 on there as well. Thoughts? Is a swing out/rear bumper mounted cargo carrier the closest/best option to this if I'm hoping to avoid blocking one of my ambulance doors and using a hitch receiver?

If you use a hitch receiver mounted in the center of the rear cross tube you are going to block both of the ambulance doors. I think you are correct in not wanting to add more weight sticking out from the OEM tire carrier. This is what I went with:
