I love that area by queen valley and superior, some really nice trails out there, did a lot of cook outs/hiking/shooting in that area 20 yrs ago.

Sounds like some one is going to set up an over night in there favorite area:hhmm:

Are you talking about the perlite mine on the old highway to Queen Valley? That was a great shooting spot. Pinal County SO now kicks you out if you go and shoot there. That huge subdivision a few miles away complains about the shooting noise.

The Queen Valley/Hewlett Station area has suffered from excessive, irresponsible shooting use. Lots of locals and the agencies are not happy, so are likely to do something about it. Very nice area, but much of it has been trashed.:o:mad:

I've been lost there before...

I have been going out there since the early 80's. I agree its not that hard to pick up your trash. People shooting glass bottles, dumping trash and just being pigs has forced the issue. My son cant enjoy the same things I did growing up.

You could of easily made it, I didnt leave until 1Pm. I cover a lot of terrain solo or with one vehicle in a short amount of time. Let me know when you want to go back there is lots more to see with a nice camp spot.
170 total miles
40 dirt
I would like to do that trip when I get back there in april, is it an overnigth trail or can it be done on a day?

"Run Today" is a horrible name for a thread...evry time it pops up, I think its today.

Yah, even back when I was going out there, people were slobs. I always brought out more trash than I generated myself; something I still do today. I've never understood the mentality of damaging property, leaving garbage/broken bottles, and shooting signs. As much as it annoys me, I kind of like the idea of buying a pass for a couple of bucks for an area and not having it results in a nice fine if you are caught; it helps with the riff raff.

April would be a great time. The complete run took me ~6 hours from the time I left my house until I returned. You see more and cover more ground solo.

For future confusion avoidance, simply add the date when posting.

Holy crap, quit changing the title, I've read this about 12 times now. 'Was run today' just makes it sound like I missed another run today.

This area is only off the road about 2 miles and with in 15 minutes of your house. Your kids would love it.
nice! A friend took us out there to look for Apache Tears today. Neat place.

Were you guys in a black 100? The family and I were over by the mine this afternoon. We then went to the old Pinal cemetary where Wyatt Earps first wife Mattie has a grave. After that we head up towards Montana Mountain and did a little shooting.

My family and I just got back from apache tear hunting near Superior then finished off the day with Los Hermanos. Didn't see any other cruisers...where did you guys go?
All the kids came home with a handful of tears.

We were in a tan FJC. We parked right by the locked gate at the top of the road to the mine. We almost went to Los Hermanos for dinner as well. I have drank many a beer their. Abe the owner is a great guy. I grew up with his kids. What were you guys driving?

Were you guys in a black 100?...
Yes, unfortunately I drive a 100 series now and yes, it's black, so I'm ostracized by the CSC gang on two counts... ;) (kidding, of course, not everyone can have a white 80...) Sorry I missed all the wheeling last week as I was out of town.
