So what tire would you choose if you were going on the Alaska Cruiser Trek? I have a round trip of 5500 miles. I've read the BFG MTs are kind of useless in the mud there. Would you consider the bias-ply Super Swamper or TSL/SX? I appreciate hearing all the real world experience. That's what makes 'MUD so invaluable.

I would consider a set of tires to drive up there on and then a set of TSL's for once you are there.

Nothing that won't beat you up on the drive there is gonna do all that well in their conditions.

JMHO.

I had some 33x12.20 baja claw radials on my last rig that saw quite a bit of street time. They did get loud once the tread wore down but not louder than the swampers I hear on other trucks. I really liked the street performance and they seemed to do fine off road. I think wear was almost average. While I liked the looks of them, directionals only get rotated front to back so I don't think you can get the most out of them wear wise because of that. Overall decent tire at a great price.

Yep that would be the ideal situation. Unfortunately I can't afford two sets of tires. Just trying to find a good compromise. Might as well get boggers if I'm only going to use them on the trail.
