Below is a copy of an email I received. I will be talking to Peter about this project to determine if it is legitimate. If so, I assume we all want to participate. Let me know your thoughts.

Dear Mr. Mylie,

My name is Peter D?Luhosch. I am a graduate student and research
assistant working at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and
Forestry in Syracuse, NY. I am writing to you today to briefly
describe an OHV project with which I am involved, and to ask for your
assistance.

Over the next year, I will be comparing and contrasting the views of
northeast state and federal land managers with those of OHV riders
with regards to OHV riding opportunities and issues. The study is
designed to examine OHV use on public forests in highly populated
areas such as the northeastern United States. We will be including
off-road, four-wheel riders and dirt bikers in this study. A survey
of OHV riders will be used to help gain a clear picture of their
concerns and experiences riding on public lands. This is where I need
your help. I would like to send this survey to your club?s members
for their input. I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me a
directory of your club members that includes their mailing addresses.
In order to ensure the validity of the final results it is important
for me to do the mailing rather than having your club conduct the
mailing itself. Please know that this is a professional study and that
the strictest measures will be enforced to ensure the confidentiality
of all participants. No individual survey responses will be released
under any circumstances, to ensure this confidentiality. Your club
will be issued a complementary copy of the study?s results for
participating.

Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts or if you wish to
discuss this study further. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Peter
