My 2008 Sunroof stops when it hits the wind deflector and reverses back.

My fix for this is to hold down the wind deflector manually with a single finger and hold it long enough for the sunroof to secure it down and quick enough to get my finger out of there before it gets pinched.

Every time I close the sunroof I feel like Indiana Jones narrowly escaping the sunroof pinch.

Is this a sunroof calibration issue? and if so, how do I reset?

No replies. I’m sure there’s a solution. I have the exact same issue. The wind deflector mechanism looks good but could do with a clean and ptfe grease. I don’t think it’s the issue though. I wonder if there are tabs on the sun roof itself that might be missing, it’s hard to see, might have to get my bore scope in there. Been a problem since i bought it 3 years back

Still hoping someone here has fixed it!

Does it seem to move at a reasonable speed until it stops?

Have you tried unhooking the battery to reset the force detection intended to avoid crushing things?

Yes, I’ve tried doing the reset procedure, which does nothing, hard to tell if its really a thing though.

It moves freely until it hits the wind deflector, but it gets pushed over slightly to the drivers side instead of hinging straight down which is triggering that safety because the forces are obviously wrong. Something is off with the way it’s meant to get depressed.

Maybe try removing the springs from the wind deflector and checking whether it moves evenly?
