So I opened the sunroof last night without opening the sliding sun shade first. Now the sunshade is stuck I cannot push it back. Even worse the sunroof will not close all the way with 5 days or rain starting tomorrow.

When opened al the way the shade solids with the glass but stops about 4-5 inches short of the normal open postion.

When closing the sunroof the shade get there first and the glass stops about 4" back.

Anyone else seen this any tips on how to get the thing closed?

I cannot slide the shade back at all now without opening the glass.

You can manually operate the moon roof by inserting a tool into the drive. See FSM BO-068

Never done it, but remember reading it.

Once the glass stops sliding closed, release the close button then press the close button again.

did you check the track for obstructions. It does take two pushes to close 100%, but I am sure you know that, or have tried pushing the button multiple times. Can you hear the motor try to close?

Yes I know it takes two pushes and no there are no obstructions that i can see.

This is the most it will close. Notice the shade is closed.

This is the farthest it will open. Runs quick and strong to these points.

It looks to me like the shade is 'off its track' so to speak. The shade is stopping the glass from sliding along its correct track, it's jamming/holding it up. That is not the correct track location for the shade.

You gotta get the shade fully open, out of the way of the glass, so that the glass may slide.

No the shade in in the right track this is my 96 I have a 95 also looking at both everything looks identical but I can not get the shade to slide it seems paired with the glass.

The shade should not be able to pass the glass like that.

This I know! But I can not get it to budge Ive even taken a hammer to it.

I pulled the front of the shade off the rails down into the cab then closed the glass. The trim of the glass was shattered and jammed everything up in the rear this is what i found.

you found a rock n roll M4, a Sig Sauer, headlamp and those trim pieces up there? NO wonder it didn't close!

All 80's in Texas have those accessories.

I'm taking my sunroof apart today to see what I can find! I'd love a Sig! :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Back to tech... How did those plastic bits get broken? I know if the OP knew the answer he wouldn't have been so frustrated and had to pull out those weapons to blow off steam, but any guesses?

How did you get the shade to drop down? Rip it out? Was it reusable? Having exact same prob in Texas too. Thanks

Oh if it's in Texas you probably have a bunch of ammo, semi automatics and a pistol or two. Last time I had this issue in Texas I found a Grenade launcher.. You may mess stuff up, but the spoils may be worth it...

*sorry to be of no useful use*
