I was driving in a bad storm and noticed the headliner above me getting wet. I got drenched. A perfect sized acorn was calling one of those drainage tubes home.

weed eater line works great for cleaning the drain tubes. Mine leaks slightly but not enough to worry about. nothing is getting wet that isnt supposed to

leaks , after not seeing rain here for over 40 days , now I have a leak. Has anyone sealed the sun roof with RV seal ? I dont use mine and 2 years ago when I opened it I had a hard time getting it to close.

Mine was sealed shut with black RV when I bought the truck. Looked sloppy but it worked - kept the water out. The cables and guides were rusted and the drains were clogged so that's probably why they sealed it up. I've since replaced the broken sunroof with one from a salvage yard and it works as it should now.

Mine is not leaking into the cab of the truck anymore. I did have to put some clear rtv silicone on the part of the gasket where the two ends meet on the rear. I am guessing the gasket has shrunk over time and there was water getting in. I have that problem fixed, but while I had the plastic trays that go around the bottom interior side of the glass I noticed water dripping between the gasket and the metal of the roof. It was dripping but I can only assume it has drained out of the rear drains. I am just trying to find out if this is normal, not normal but tolerable, or if needs to be fixed.

Mine leaks , had a new seal around for a few years.. cleaned drainsurance, etc

I find if I just close the sun shade.....I won't get as wet

MY 04 LC has the same issue with rusted cables and guides. I am looking to do the same repair. How much did the salvage yard want for the used parts? Did you do the repair yourself? If so, any advice? I have seen the post about the DIY by removing headliner etc. I am mechanically inclined to attempt it but finding the parts used and then the time is the struggle.

Well, if you want to know what's involved look here:

Sunroof disassembly

Did this a few years ago, new cables, cassette, and weatherstripping. Part numbers are there as well.

Here are the leaking pics. I think over time its just dried and separated a little in the back portion. If there is light water falling, it drips directly into tray, otherwise it starts moving around and dripping forward while driving or if a good amount is coming in. The sides, although they're leaking the same amount, drain fine due to a larger area of tray which they can fall in. New weather-seal came in last night, however, I haven't had the time to install yet. Will try it out tomorrow night once I get the car back from the shop.

@MTNlivn - i had John's Sunroofs down on Santa Fe do the repair. They sourced a sunroof from a salvage vehicle and did the install. I think all told it was $650 ish. You could tell they manhandled the headliner a little bit but overall i felt they did a decent job. John's Sunroofs in Littleton , CO

Just a quick update, although I had the seal, my mechanic suggested I not do the 'change/upgrade' till after the trip. Didn't want me running into any issues down the road... so I just did a really good job of putting punters tape and sealing it all around.

So far so good, and we're 800m into our trip with HEAVY winds, sand storms, light rain and high speeds at times (<90)

It rained all weekend here and after the rain I noticed that the floor in the rear cargo area, closest to the tailgate, was soaking wet. I pulled my truck into the garage and dryed it out. Today, I dove into trying to figure out the issue and poured water into each channel and watched the water drain out of each drain without a problem. The only think I can think to fix the problem now is to replace the sunroof gasket. But was quoted $200 to fix it. Any other recommendations?

From the location you describe, third brake light leaking.

Mine started leaking yesterday, and is unfortunately seized shut. So today I removed the glass and cleaned the drains and whole area up. Also cleaned the accumulated crap off the entirety of the seal around the glass. When I reinstalled it, the glass sat a little lower than flush, and I had my son spray the roof to try to simulate a decent rainfall. From inside (and with the trim still removed), I could see/hear a good amount of water falling into the drains. So, to the original question…is this okay? The drains were keeping up…but it seems like the sunroof should seal better than that. Also, any ideas why it's sitting lower than the roof now?
