Suggestions on a bug sheild for the hood?

I know this is an oxymoron but does anyone have any suggestion for a good looking, low profile bug shield for the front of my 2004 LC. I really don not want to put one on but my paint is getting ruined from all of the highway driving in South Texas. From my earlier post with pictures you can see the damage, that is not bug residue that is paint that has been removed from my hood, and yes, I was the bugs off about ever week to ten days and this still happens.

I have looked at some but the it seems the ones I like are not available for my year and model. Has anyone ever just put a mat black wrap on the entire hood or maybe just a wrap on the first 4 to 6 inches of the hood?

I'm curious about this as well. I have some thoughts on protective coatings. But would almost prefer the wind screen as it's disposable.

Dumb question but....
Have you looked into a factory Toyota deflector? Otherwise, you could get a 3m style "decal" for the front portion of your hood, mirrors etc...

The protection film is either clear gloss or matte that would let the paint damage show through. Maybe you could find a vinyl car wrap dealer to do the hood to match your paint.

A black low profile bug shield would blend well and serve the purpose even if you did a repaint.

A little late as you seem to have some damage to the paint already but till you get that resolved to avoid more damage an old trick I used when I was in school in Austin was to spray some wd40 on the paint on the bumper and front of hood before road trips. This made a lot of the bugs just glide right off and those that stuck were just on the surface and would not embed into the paint. Cleanup was simply rinse off with the hose after the trip and they would all just wash off without any paint damage. This was of course before the days or clear bras and vinyl wraps.

Your car looks like its black so you could probably just plati-dip the leading edge of the hood and go back 4-6" like you mentioned till all the marks are covered.

skhochay, not sure what kind of Windex you get in Idaho but here in Texas Windex does not repair or protect paint damage.

I am happy with my original equipment bug deflector, toyota Part Number: PT427−60040

it is ugly but it works really well for most purposes.... like my original equipment running boards.

I believe 3M has a spray on mask that you can spray on your paint and wash it off later, even safe to spray on your engine inside the paint booth! I remember using that thing on a lot of cars wile painting, wet sanding and/or test driving at the shop I used to work at in Denver! Not really a solution to your problem since those cars were all super high dollar trailer beauties! Just a temporary relief!

No problem - I've found EBAY to be the best place to find OEM products for our 100 series at discounted prices to boot! I've ordered OEM floor mats from this seller too.
