Hey gang, I have taken my 99 100 to my second home in Idaho where it will stay in perpetuity. With winter temps likely well below 0F, what are best practices for storing her for the winter? BTW, I changed all lubes to full synthetic and strengthen the coolant and she will be inside.

If it's being stored inside you shouldn't have too much to worry about. I would put a nice charge on the battery or get yourself a small trickle charger if you want. Put a bunch of stabil in the gas tank and some dryer sheets in the engine compartment and the inside to prevent any tiny critters from making a new home in your 100.

If the floor is concrete and it's going to freeze really hard you might want to park on some mats or rugs. Tiny little cracks will develop on your tires from freezing and will shorten the life of the tires.

You can board her with me...

Thanks Musky, you've brought up a couple great points. I had thought of lifting her in jack stands to avoid tire flat spots but like the rug idea. Was also considering disconnecting the battery.

Anything you can do to deter rodents would be a good idea

Fortunately, knock on wood, I have not seen any signs of critters in the garage over the last three years.

I would disconnect the battery, or better (imo) get a Battery Tender Jr....about $30 and leave it plugged in.

Thanks Steve, I typically shut off the power as well but may leave it on for that very reason. Just seems easier, and I've got a guy who checks on things every couple weeks.

Just south of West Yellowstone and the Henry's Lake area. Wouldn't say alot of sub-zero, but it does seem to happen once or twice a year.

West Yellowstone and surrounding gets well below freezing for weeks at a time in the winter....
