No. Still working through troubleshooting. Drove it 25 miles each way to work and back, recording with tech stream and it did not happen today. Trans looks OK, now looking into the ECU and associated sensors and cables.

My thread: RPM drop to idle during downshift, loss of power when passing, extremely intermittent - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/rpm-drop-to-idle-during-downshift-loss-of-power-when-passing-extremely-intermittent.1345622/
I'm looking at brake light switches.

Did you figure out the problem?
So I found one of the alternator bolts loose. This would explain the occasional serpentine belt noise I was hearing. It was easily spun by hand. The alternator was definitely able to move. Could this cause my issue?

I also double checked all of the wiring at the front of the engine and everything looked good and routed properly, with the exception of the oil pressure sending unit wire. When I unplugged it the plug easily separated from the wire, so I’ll need to fix that. I also cleaned up some random wiring under the dash from the previous owner, including some old brake controller wiring and other miscellaneous wiring that was laying around and even spliced in to the fuse box at the drivers side kick panel. A yellow box unit has been installed so I traced that wiring as well and inspected the wiring.

I then took it for a spin down and up my usual test route, and the issue did not occur! I’m skeptical anything I did would have fixed it, but crossing my fingers.

Anyone have a part # for the oil pressure sending wire pigtail/plug?
Mine doing the same thing when I am accelerating out of a parking lot and turning/merging into flowing traffic. Also once when I was passing. It’s not a transmission thing, no revving sound. Just zero gas getting thru. Very intermittent. I’ve wondered if it is a front/to-back gravity gas tank sloshing thing? Toyota guys drive it a few blocks and tell me it didn’t occur for them and that whatever computer test they run shows nothing. It could cause an accident, it happens the worst of times.

Hi all,

Any luck finding the issue?

Been in the background for a lot of year with a 92 80 series. I now have a 02 100 series.

I had a similar issue traveling to San Diego from Phoenix when in the mountains. 105 was outside temp. When transmission went to shift down, there was a big loss of power. I then let off the gas and was able to start to accelerate again. With the pedal on the floor, when I thought it was going to shift down again. The same loss of power. Released the gas pedal and slowly started the acceleration process again. Turned on the ETC PWR button and it didn't happen again through this mountain range or the next or on the way home. ETC PWR button engaged since. Now that I am home, will test with ETC PWR disengaged.

I'm towards the end of a 1200 mile road trip, through California and Arizona. It's HOT, frequently over 110, and so far no repeat of the issue. I think I might have felt it a little bit but I cannot be sure. It certainly hasn't raised it's ugly head like it did previously.

Sadly, I don't think I have much in the way of advise for this issue. No CEL? what fuel brand and octane rating are you using?

Thanks for the update. No CEL or warning of any kind. Mostly run Costco fuel 87 octane. Fueled at chevron in Yuma.
