A little PSA to anyone interested: you can now fast-charge your Android phone via USB (even with a really fast Power Delivery charger if your setup has one) while separately running a wired Android Auto connection via the Android Auto box USB port.

Last summer, I reported on how I was able to set up Android Auto with a kit from Australia and how awesome the audio quality was on a wired USB connection vs bluetooth. Wired Android Auto transformed my audio quality while also giving me a more enjoyable interface for Google Maps, Waze, etc. But the problem was always that the add-on USB port that needed to be used with the Android Auto box charged very slowly, so slowly it could barely keep the phone at the charge it started with. So I always had to alternate between using Android Auto and separately charging my phone on a higher power USB port on longer road trips.

Here is the magic device and my new setup. I took the pic with my phone, so you can't see my phone itself, but I'm holding the cord that would plug into my phone in the pic. The little splitter device is called a Tindie. You can get it here: USB C Power/Data Splitter by Rohan Koripalli on Tindie - https://www.tindie.com/products/rkoripalli/usb-c-powerdata-splitter/

It's advertised to work with iPhones too, though I haven't tested them. You do have to play around with cords to get everything to work.
