I made a pretty quick and easy sub mount for the rear quarter panel today.

I originally planned to re use the da sub bracket, but that seam like a pain.

I bent these with a ball peen and brake press made from two pieces of teak clamped with the metal between them. Gotta love marine grade teak.

painted, drilled cable passes at the bottom added plywood.

used some self tapping screws to mount. I might switch to bolts.

Currently stopping here for the night.
But I’m pretty happy for $8 in material
Might do a little more reinforcement, and going to stuff the cavity behind mount and skin of cat with some foam. Still have to run cables too. 😎

Question. Since I’m running power to the sub, can I tap into that to power one of these? 12v socket, or maybe a usb outlet?

Sizes the wire correctly to handle the load (electrical guru’s chime in please) and you can run anything you want off that leg. Fuse/circuit breaker immediately off the battery for the run. I have run a 4 gauge from the battery (positive and negative) to the cab of my Tundra. You will like that powered sub (for what it is) and the knob come in handy to fine tune the sound.

I ran some 4g (I think) direct from the battery (fused close on the battery end) to dist block in the quarter panel and then to my sub amp and then aux stuff.

Sounds like I should pick up a little Blue Seas distro and some 4 Gauge.
Kit came with 10 gauge, but I think it might be too short anyway.

Found a handy chart.

I think on my fuzzy math memory that distance for power 10g is too little. My amp came with 8g and still didn't work in my head.

Perzactly. :)

Gen 2.
Added a new play wood mounting plate with wing to the side. The plastic box in the panel still fits over this wing.

On the wing mounted up a blue sea 4 ganger. And added big grommet for the cable passes in the bracket. (Glued them in too).

no fridge yet, maybe next year.

Also. Pro tip. If you buy wire or terminal ends from West Marine you can use their big cable crimper to install the terminals.
Will be going back after I get my new 4 ga run. they have nice tinned copper terminals and wire, but their wire is too stiff for this application.
