stupid question for fj guys,

Does anyone have a diagram for the heater hoses and radiator hoses for a 71 fj40? what is the purpose of the lower heater hose with the nipple? I do not have one. Can I run a regular heater hose? where do the heater hoses run to on the engine? I have one running to the drivers side of the block and the other has no hose on it from the core to ? what hose goes from the thermostat housing to where? I might as well myself for this question...

5/8" heater hose works fine.... The hot coolant comes from the top of cylinder head, there should be a angle stop valve with a flared nipple pointed up angled toward the firewall the hose loops up along the firewall to the left connecting to the brass Y going through the firewall grommet inside the hose makes a 90* turn connecting to the top heater, the fitting connection pointing down plug It or run to rear heater.
The return Heater hose comes from the (inside) bottom of the heater makes a 90* turn toward the firewall through the same grommet again, the part of the Y pointing down can be plugged If not using rear heater,once through the firewall run hose to the lower radiator hose "T" making a return for the cool coolant to the engine Hope this makes sense

The Thermostat housing hose "U" goes to the water pump

Thanks, I looked at mine and it makes sense. guess I will have to make the lower piece for the rad. hose to connect the heater hose to.

What is the bracket that is shown on your picture with the linkage unhooked? mine has the same thing. It is mising the lower rod, though. Is this the 4wd engagement? what are the two vacuum lines on the t-case and trans for? where do they go. I still feel stupid asking these questions, but nobody around here has seen a 40, let alone owned one.
