Due to some questionable weather-related decisions I made last night, I didn't bail on my campsite before the rain and snow came in. Now the steep road down the mesa is too muddy and slippery for me to (by my skill level) go down.

On the likely off chance that someone knows where it is, I'm on the north side of fr 239 on Chivato Mesa in Cibola NF. It's farther down the old highway from Cabezon.

I tried and got about 20% down, decided to call it quits after doing a 180 on a shelf going about 2 mph.

Any help will be appreciated, stuff like tire chains or maxtrax would be a godsend.

I'll probably start walking out when I get light, send me a text at 5054127909 for more info (or just to make fun of me.)

Dude,

Can you post up a google location pin drop? Also, what size tires are you running, this will help with chains slection.

I've reached out to Evan who is in Cibola S&R.

Ali and I both texted around 8AM without a response yet. I'm seeing what I can do to get over that way but its gonna be a while
The sunshine should dry things out pretty quick... Grants and Torreon both are sunny and windy on weather.com

@Benzfanatical
Made contact with Chris with the Raptor and he is on his way to Grants and his ETA to Grants is around 1300hrs so he's willing to help if Alex hasn't driven out by then.

made contact with Alex.

There's about where I'm at
My tire size is 285/75/16
I'm walking out now, then gonna go to ABQ to try and find some chains

Anyone have chains for 285's?

Update: Walking out, got a ride on the way. Ali offered the use of some chains. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I should be able to get the truck out before dark.

Thanks for all the help, I really thought I was a goner when I started doing pirouettes at 3 in the morning on the switchbacks.

Time for some muddies and chains!

they picked up the chains and I suggested that they also grab pappy's chains before starting the recovery process.

Well what’s the status!? Hoping everyone is now safe since its dark out...

They did, around 1:00.

I have my chains back. Off to Ali's they go.
