When shifting out of 4high mode to 2 low for nomal driving it is very very difficult to move the shift knob. It has always been like this since purchacing it and wonder what may be causing it? Clutch is okay and fluid is topped.

Are you talking about shifting from 4H to 4L...or from 4H to 2H? Not clear from your post.

Anywho...it does take some effort to move the transfer case shifter either from H to L or from 2 to 4. This is normal. It's not like shifting the transmission, it's much stiffer.

Try moving forward if you're trying from a stop...

It's been easier since I've tried that trick.

I had this problem must have been all those water crossings, so when I replaced my clutch I took the T-case shifter linkage assembly apart and slopped some white lithium grease on the shaft ,tube and the other pivot point.
It was hard to get separated and the problem was pretty clear to see. It shifts like butter now no effort required I used to have to use my right foot on the damn thing to get it to move so its a nice change. Hope this is what your referring to. I think you can get it apart from underneath or removing the doghouse.....to remove it there are 2 or 3 14mm bolts that are on the top of the case it should all come out one piece.

I agree about checking it out underneath and making sure everything is lubed and not rusted up.

Sounds like you are talking about shifting out of 4H to 2H which is common. Try moving forward alittle and try again if it is hard to shift back to 2H.

I find it easiest to shift from 4 hi to 2 hi while i moving. Difficult to do sitting still but easily shifts at 5mph or even less
