I posted this question up in the tire and wheel forum, but didn't get any bites. Maybe you guys could help a brother out.

I'm buying five wheels from Stockton Wheel and would like to know if I got the size right. I'm going to run 255/85/16 tires.

Wheels will be: 16x7
bolt pattern: 6 on 5-1/2
back space: 3-1/2"

Sound right?

They want $205 dollars per wheel, shipped to me.

sounds right. IIRC think the bolt pattern is the same up through mid 2000's and this is the same pattern that I used on my 2000 sequoia when I purchased new wheels.

What type are you thinking of putting on?

Thank You!

I just wanted to check before ordering.

I'm thinking the 20 series, just a plain steel wheel. Thought I could put my own clips on them, for the hubcaps.

those should look good...are you running 60 series axles? IIRC, stock BS is 3.5, so on a 60 axle, the track will be a tab wider- just about right, that is.

Yes, 60 axles. I can get any back space. You think 3-1/2" is right? Thinking I would need that to clear the TREs.

;) unless you have hi steer arms, you are correct. 3.25-3.5, you'll be fine- I think I will end up going a similar route someday. 16 is a good size for selection/ availability, but not easy to find good looking in less than 4.5" BS w/o going custom. plain steelies look so much better than anything else I've seen- even my stock taco wheels make me a little angry. only other somewhat acceptable would be plain steel with holes, like a classic spare type- but again, nothing in less than 4.5" BS...post pics, work em for a MUD discount;)

Stockton Wheels did mine, with a 2" BS so they stick out a little bit extra...

Pighead,

They do look good. I'm going with skinnies, so want them tucked in some, stock looking. You think 3.5 BS will be alright.

3.5" should be perfect.

I went with 3.25" BS when I ordered from US Steel back in the day, I was going with 15" and there were reports of clearance issues with the TREs. I think you should be ok with 3.5" on 16"s, just throwing it out there ;). Here were the wheels I had made -

Great choice!

Stockton did my OEM steelies for my 60 several years ago and I love em.

Good luck!

Paul,

If I remember right, you had stock 15" wheels widened. If I want hubcaps, I'll have to weld on clips. I don't think they offer clips on the wheels I want.

Thanks,

Ron

Ron-

You're absolutely correct. Best of luck on your 16's and I look forward to seeing them on your rig!

Lowtiderider,

Those look great. I'm worried about the 4" back space. Will you need to run spacers or do you think 4" will be alright. I want to use the same size tire.

They sure are a better price.

They have different back spacing available. I am running that size back spacing for FZJ80 series axles under my pig.

I have run the 255's before on my last rig and they are an awesome size tire, great off road and good fuel economy( BFG KM2).
