1997 Toyota Land Cruiser, (40th Anniversary)

Not for me, so jump quick if you're interested, he posted this morning and has had numerous calls already. I looked it over this afternoon and its in decent shape. Body is straight, no rust at all except a pebble size spot on the tailgate. Some scratches on the rear, and clearcoat peel on the hood and roof. NO LOCKERS.

Needs baselined and some TLC. No major leaks I could find though. Driver side birf was realllly wet, passenger side a little caked but decent. Undercarriage looked good, no rust at all. Pinion seals looked good. 3rd owner, says he has the majority of service records and paperwork dating back to the original owner from Washington (?). Full size spare, plus the original spare under the truck. Has remote start, alarm, backup camera, touch screen stereo (but original speakers)...

I can send some pictures I took to anyone interested, or try to get them posted here in a little bit.

Nice find!

What's makes the 40th anniversary so appealing?

I'd say rarity and color.

The truck was only available in 2 colors...the Antique Sage Pearl was the only color (of the two) completely unique to the 40th package. That color happened to coincide with the craze for pewter, silver, etc. SUVs and was the consensus favorite color for many years.

White now seems to have taken the mantle for those in the 80 series market.

The 2-tone leather is loved and loathed by many. Some geek-out over the 40th Anniversary badging and floor mats. The special wheels are shared with the Collector's Edition trucks.

As far as actual upgrades, the Automatic Climate control was only available on 40ths, Collectors and LX-450s.

I would guess that a factory locked, ASP 40th truck with good seats, correct badging, floor mats and wheels would be the second most rare 80 Series...behind the "poverty pack" (No roof rack, no sunroof, no running boards, no window tint, no third row seats or sliding rear windows, cloth interior, steel wheels)
