Update July '16: Freshening up front end of truck. All that is left are the LCAsand, sway bar bushings, and the rack itself.

Ordered a press to install my Trail Gear t-case gears since nobody close by has one that I use.

Have a bad vibration between 50-75mph. Either a bent rear axle or bad front drive shaft are the only remaining suspects.

do you have any spacers with those tires ? looks good.

Nice......like the color
I'm heavily considering bedlining the whole truck red. Granny Gold isn't my cup of tea.

No spacers. There is minor rubbing at full flex but nothing I'm concerned about.

May I suggest sliders? Looks good though
I have had a set sitting on my porch for a few months and all the guys that have offered to weld them on have flaked for one reason or another.

I obviously could have used them at the Lone Star Toyota Jamboree. Haha
I had a blast though and will definitely be back next year.

Zero-to-Trail Rig in 60 seconds. ;-)
Keep those pics handy for all those "What mods should I do first?" threads. They come up a lot.

Looks like you're building a pretty badass 100 - even without the upcoming mods. Welcome to Mud!

Thanks Manhattan. You have a pretty sweet whip yourself.

I have been really lucky with this build. You'd probably choke if I told you how little I have in it.

After adding the rear bumper, gears have become a top priority. I can really feel the engine struggling now with all the added weight. If I add skids, wife, boys, and gear it will be a dog.

I have some more baselining to do before I can get to that. There's a popping sound under heavy braking up front and the post lift vibration is really bugging me.

Need to order Metal Tech upper links, steering rack and/or bushings, and get the front end sorted.

Also need to order a replacement tail light after a tree jumped in front of it on a trail.

I installed the Trail Creeper gear set from Low Range Off Road. It sat on a shelf for a few months before I decided to tackle it.

Install went really smooth. Did it myself in a buddies garage. Left the transfer case in place and pulled the gears.

I used a $115 Amazon 6 ton press that worked perfect for this application.

The new ratio is awesome.

Only complaint is that they are a little noisier when free wheeling in Low Range now.

I'll report back with long term review.

I had a vibration that was driving me crazy and getting worse and worse.

I replaced a ton of worn components and even the u joints. Still no improvement.

Eventually I figured out what had happened but I overlooked my driveshaft before when I was chasing the vibes because there was still a vibration when I removed it.

That turned out to be an out of round tire.

I was doing a little hill climb with my son last week and heard a loud BANG and I look out my passenger mirror to see my driveshaft zip across the face of said hill.

I was impressed with the damage. Both new O'rielys brand joints sheared in a way I've never seen before.

The yoke was also ruined when the u joints failed because it hit a rock or something.

I headed to Drive Train Specialists in Buda Tx after coming highly reccomended from local guys.

He said my old driveshaft was slightly bent so I'd be better off getting a new OEM one.

After discussing my purposes with it he said he'd make me a custom shaft that can take some more abuse.

He built me a brand new Spicer shaft with .083 wall tubing, Spicer slip yoke, and Spicer 1301 snap ring u joints found on most domestic pickups.

$400 later I have a much smoother and stronger ride.

Next up is cosmetic stuff.

I've been busy baselining the truck due to neglectful P.O.s (still have a few electrical bugs to figure out)

I ordered some "Rust Bullet" on Amazon; a cheap alternative to POR15. I'll be applying it to my sliders as a base coat. I've decided to go with Safety Orange Rust Inhibitor Enamel and topped with HighTemp Clear Enamel to prevent UV fading.

I'm also waiting for Torch Monkey Fab to call me in to build my new front bumper. I'm going with a tube bumper setup for maximum clearance and a better approach angle.

Something like the 4runner pictured below.

I know you went heavy wall on the replacement DS, but if carry at least a spare u joint with you since you ditched the Toyota ones. I've seen more than one "built" DS spit out a Spicer. In fact, once on both DSs on same trail. Not fun. Can't really beat OEM for those joints. Just my 2 cents.

What are you doing with the ARB bumper?

I sold it locally to a guy who wanted to rebuild it.

Being disappointed with the lack of protection and terrible approach angle, I was quick to ditch it.

My original driveshaft was unrepairable since it was "slightly banana shaped".

We will see how it goes. I have installed many of these u joints in my past life as a mechanic with no come-backs.

I couldn't find Spicers or OEM same day so I went with O'rielys store brand. They both failed in the same exact area of the casting.

This prompted me to choose a readily available joint that also has a more robust design. The larger Spicer 1301 has a max Cont Tq rating of 790ft-lbs and Yield Tq rating of 1600ft-lbs.
