all right. nice of you to volunteer, 2K. Just start a thread. We can clean it up later. And I can link to it in the FAQ. We can figure out a way to let folks add to it later on, too.

Sounds good. I'll create a thread tonight after I have the engine category down. Does anybody have any ideas on a commonly needed parts list?

CV's? boots? 02 sensors, etc?

Off the top of my head:

Belts
plugs
coil pack
filters - air, oil, fuel
o2 sensors
water pump
radiator
radiator cap
TPS
Toyota coolant
FIPG tube
wiper refill rubber, front and rear
CV boot kits
CV's
u-joints
steering rack
tie rod ends
pocket thing next to shifter
c-clips
star washer
brake pads front and rear
rotors front and rear
gas cap
floor mat hook thing

if the posts get really big -and if some get added later on- it might be good to have some strong keywords in there so it'd be easy to do a page search with the browser to find stuff. And if you want to add pics or figures, having separate posts for each broad topic may be better, depending on whether you embed or link, to get around any limitation on pic number and to link to more accurately. But to ensure longevity of the thread, embedding is probably better.

More generally, I don't think that we need to try to cover all the parts in the dang thing. After all the diagrams are there and Onur knows all. But maybe more the main jobs that Mudders are fond of, creative use of non-standard parts, odd situations and the like?

I will cover all the parts (that I can find). I just finished one of them. I will go ahead and open the thread. And continue posting. However I would like the posts to be uninterrupted. I will post my email information for those who would like to contact me. Let's keep this the discussion thread until I am done.

Subscribed to the other thread. Thanks for taking this on. I'd recommend posting several placeholders since you know someone will screw it up

My small contribution. Here are some part numbers for plastidip.

Clear - 075815112095
Blue -11219-6

Just looked at the "closed" thread, but the spreadsheet is missing the first 2 numbers of each part number. That's going to be tough for most people if they are not versed in Toyota part number logic and nomenclature.

Hmm. I'll look into the missing numbers. Any idea where I can find them?

Edit: found the first two part numbers. I'll edit the sheets when I get out of class later. Thanks for the heads up

A couple of options:

1. A Toyota parts guy willing to give you numbers (Toyota, as we know, is very particular about this stuff). :)

2. Another site with full part numbers (but you won't get supersessions which is live data from Toyota)

EDIT: Cool. Nice work.

Any help would be great! I'd rather take my time and get everything right than post 10,000 incorrect part numbers

I will assist where I can.

Will that other thread be re-opened?

It will be re-opened when I edit. My email is in the thread. You can send me a email and I can send you the files

EDIT: the first part of the part # is in my .pdf's. Under PNC, it is the first numbers. The part number holds the rest. I will still go back and edit.

Example:

17700 CLEANER ASSY, AIR **700-50170 = 17700‑50170

2K, it is indeed best if you keep it closed until you're done so as to prevent potential issues (such as clutter or hurt sensibilities if we have to delete extraneous posts :) ).
Since you're doing the work, you call it: We can keep it closed to all or work out a sensible way of adding info, but the latter would have to be tight to keep the thread clean. We can figure that out later.

I have to open it to add/edit. Therefor I open and close it when I am working on the thread. It's only open for 30 seconds when I attach files. If that works for you guys (mods) that works for me. It's easy to open/close it on my end.

that's fine. If somebody were to post inadvertently during the 30s, I can take care of that.

so what is the logic behind these parts numbers, is there some sort of higher level order to this mess, with numeric codes built-in?

I'm just adding the files and diagrams as I go. After that, I will shift and re-attach them and move the posts (attachments really). The first post will have text links for each model year, location (engine, interior, etc). So the first post will have a common part # sheet, a quick reference (links to posts).

Just a little update:

I haven't made it much further in the part list. I thought I would have time to generate a entire list of parts and diagrams but the morning after I was hit with a huge amount of work, school work, and many other things. I will work on this when I have time, however things will move slow. It will get done eventually. If somebody would like to take over and speed things up I will be happy to send you what I have and open the thread for editing.
