My 2K 100 LC, new to me as of a week ago, is in need of some brake work.
The pedal will stay depressed sometimes after using the brakes & at first I thought it was the master cylinder but now am thinking it may be a sticky caliper.
It doesn't pull to either side or pulse though, it just feels as if it doesn't have enough hydraulic pressure to push the pedal back into position.
Is this common with the 100 series?
Thanks.

That sure doesn't sound normal. I would start by inspecting the brake system. In fact, go to a dealership and see if they can pull any service records to give yo an idea if there were any previous problems. Here are a few things to check:
How's your brake fluid level?
Did the brake pedal return spring come off or break (it's located on the top of the brake pedal)?
Do you have air in the lines (just bleed your brakes, it's easy)?
Look for obvious leaks in the brake system.
Do you have any leaky piston seals?
What do your pads look like?
What do the rotors look like?
Did you try lubricating the sliding pins?

Good luck!

Hi.
My 2k had the same problem. Doesn't seem to be a common problem. Overhauled the front calipers and problem gone. I have a write up on here but no pics, sorry. It's pretty straight forward. Run a search.

Pedal staying depressed does not in my mind say front calipers are the reason at all.

Are there return springs in the back? When I last checked my rear pads, the PS caliper was sticking and causing one side to wear to metal  My dad (the PO) said he lost a spring when he reassembled the calipers. I checked the other side, though, and it had no spring, but it was wearing normally.

I agree. Sounds more like a pedal issue. Just call Toyota and ask about the pedal problems and they'll know what to do! ;)

Not a service writer at a Toyota dealer I guess.

Toyota to fix 'very dangerous' pedal defects - "Moving to correct what federal regulators have termed a "very dangerous problem," Toyota Motor Corp. said it would modify and replace ... pedals on 4.26 million cars and trucks"

For the OP - Pretty sure calling Toyota about your issue is not the best idea. Search though, this issue has come up before on the board but I didn't follow it closely. Replacing the MC may be the solution.

No springs but the pad guides could be mistaken for a spring and easily lost.

I'm curious to know the resolution on this - I had an issue with rattling pads and took my truck in to the dealership today, they replaced with factory pads (previous were aftermarket). I can still hear a slight click when applying the brakes, but the rattle is gone (when going over bumps). As I drove this afternoon I noticed the exact same issue as the OP. The actual pedal will stick. Previous brake work was done by Slee with previous owner (pads/rotors all 4 corners) less than 3000 miles ago.
