Okay....I've searched a bit and can't find what I'm looking for. I've got a 94 pickup (base model) that didn't come with a radio. Well, I'm putting a radio in and need help with the wiring. I've got two plugs in the center console area that I'm guessing are for the radio. Based on the where the speakers are, I've figured out which 4 wires are for the speakers. However, I'm not sure about the other colored wires. From memory from last night, there is a brown, grey, green, blue and another blue all in one plug (not 100% sure about the two blues) and a second plug with a red wire.

I'm guessing the brown is the ground, the red separate plug is the constant power from the battery, one of the blues is the accessory, the other is the antenna and the gray and green are????

Am I way off here? I'm trying to get this thing installed without a wiring harness because I can't find one local and I want this thing installed before I go on a trip this weekend. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the colors for my 4Runner, Toyota was pretty good about keeping this stuff the same across the years... That doesn't mean it will be 100% the same for you.... :D

Brown=Ground (V6 ground is white/black stripe)
Red/Green stripe=switched power
Blue/yellow stripe=constant power

Rear right speaker white and read
Rear left speaker black and yellow
front right speaker light grean and blue
front left speaker violet and whatever "P" stands for, my FSM doesn't say...

I hope that helps some.....

Okay, I looked again at lunch. I was a little off on my colors. I've got the following colors...

Red with black stripe
Blue with white stripe
Green
Gray
Brown

I'm thinking the two reds match up. The blue's match up. The brown's match up and the green and the gray are not used???

Thanks for the help again.

why dont you buy a stereo adapter harness, there like 8 bucks and it is a plug and play deal,no guess work

Well, the toyota gods were with me yesterday. I found a guy on craigslist parting out a couple of late 80's 4runners and found a wiring harness that fit my truck. Only difference was instead of two plugs, I only have one due to the fact that I only have two speakers rather than four/six.

Here are the colors that I have and what they correspond to for future reference if anyone ever does a search.

Blue/white ----12V Memory
Gray --- 12V Power
Dark Green --- Dimmer
Brown --- Ground

The others are speaker colors and are explained above. Thanks for the help.

Good info there! I looked at the mess in my truck, plus the P.O. told me that the last time a stereo was installed there was a short somewhere in the wiring and it zapped his stereo so I ran all new wires and instead of running a wire to key on/key off, I used a rocker switch for key on power. That way I can have the keys out of the ignition and still have music.

Yeah...I had thought about doing something like that on this one....but I'm too worried that I'll put the stereo on mute when I'm my cell, park and leave with the stereo still powered on.

Yeah, understandable. I guess I've just gotten into the habit of turning it off. The only time I've ever had that problem though was when I was an idiot and left the key in the on position, and the radio on, then got out and locked the door, no spare key. I figured hey, I'll break one of the small slider windows in the back window, well as it turns out it's not really worth it to replace just the small part, and more economical to buy a whole new back window. It also would have been cheaper to buy a side window at a junkyard for 40 bucks doh!
