Today I bought a Pioneer AVIC-D2 head unit. I also bought some mb quartz speakers for the four doors. My question is what else will I need. My thoughts so far are spacer rings for the front spearker (I did buy the shallowest mb quartz speakers I could find which should help), speaker wire, and wiring harness? I'm going to need to bypass the stock amp so could I just cut the speaker leads going into it and splice them into the speaker outputs from the head unit? If I do this should I replace all the speaker wire to higher quality or would that not make much of a difference?

I'm adding a lot more to this system later, but I'm just waiting till I get home from school to do the rest (sound deadening everywhere, and a sub, plus maybe amp the speakers)

If you want to keep the original amp use Metra 70-8112, it is the amp integration harness, I have one sitting in the truck waiting for the JVC HD(High Definition Radio) head unit that I have on the way here. If you are bypassing the amp, you should just need the standard Metra Toyota wiring harness, from what I understand both wiring harnesses are already there, you can choose to use either one. I believe the amp bypass has two connectors instead of one, and I believe you will lose the ability to run the subwoofer w/out running a new wire to it. This all "theory", from research, I will be putting in my new headunit next week (hopefully).

I would wait for the new speaker wires. This should be done once you install the amp. Plus look at a set of high end interconnects along with the amp. If you locate the amp in the rear quarters of the LC make sure you seal the beauty strips mounting holes loacated on the base of the windows. In most cases this is a source for H2O and possible electrical problems. Also run a properly sized direct wire from your battery to your amp.
