Anybody here sharpen them?
I have several that have one hole size that is dull.
They are Irwins or Vikings.

For the money that a decent one costs, I'm interested in this answer as well if it's a simple fix.Anybody here sharpen them?

I don't use them.... greatly prefer individual drills. I also wouldn't call myself a machinist nor even an imposter, just someone that likes to make a mess here and there.I'm hoping Junk posts up or one of the other machinest and says that they can.
For what they don't cost at HF, I just replace them. You can get a 3-pack for $9 and they last pretty damn long.
I have a bunch of dull ones also. If you using them for electical work, might want to do what I did and purchase a set of Greenlee knock out dies.

Are those strong enough to drill holes in spring perch plates 5/16 steel?

Not Irwins or Vikings. I have been the HF route it costs me more than Iwins or Viking's do.
Really? I broke an Irwin the second day I used it and was out $50
Have only broken one HF step bit and I dropped the drill it was in and I'm pretty sure it landed on the bit, so that probably had something to do with it.
I guess your mileage does vary![]()
I don't break them. I dull them.![]()
