got a 97 jap import that recently have noticed it wandering on the road with a slight slackness in the steering. took off the factory winch a few weeks ago which was a fare lump and the tyres are nearly gone could the walls have gone soft and removing the extra made it more noticeable? also tried the adjustment screw on the steering box but had no luck any suggestions?

97? must be a 80 series........as 100's don't have a steering box with a screw......do they?

but yeah, taking off the winch would have changed caster, which would effect the steering.

In most vehicle applications that "screw" is not a way to help with steering slop in fact it can make your steering problem worse. I messed with mine on a Chev. truck and learned my lesson real fast.

Try looking at the castor...it determines the amount of self centering. I recently had a castor kit fitted to my wandering LC100, improved things outa sight...
