I'm hoping someone can tell me what spline(33 or 36) my 1980 FJ40 steering shaft has. I've searched a bunch, and I keep finding conflicting information. I don't have access to my truck at the moment, or I would just check for myself. Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of a steering wheel hub adapter that would fit, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I did some research recently, I'll see if I can find the post.

Pretty sure it’s 33 spline. The early wheels (pre 69 I think) were the 36 spline.

7/69 the spline count changed from 36 to 33. Up until the 95 80 series with air bag it stayed 33. Have a 94 steering wheel I've checked. May stayed 33 count 95+, just have no reason to check.

a 60 series steering wheel fit the splines on a 98 100 series, sold the wheel but still needed to run the rig around the yard.

A zillion years ago a Grant steering wheel adapter for a Toyota Corolla fit the Landcruiser, BUT I have not kept up with the latest info on this. Just thinking you could sniff in that direction ???
