So at 99k miles my steering rack was seeping on one end just a little. Took the cruiser in and asked them to look at it because I was about out of warranty.

They called me back and said the repair had been approved and I would be issued a rental....

Fast forward four days, truck is done and the warranty covered everything except for a $99.00 alignment???

Total bill was $3,030.00!!!

Thank god for warranty, will be gone by the end of the month...

Just crawled under the truck this morning and noticed is came with new tie rod ends!

Sweet

Mine was just replaced this last month as well on the LX. It took them two to get it all correct, but I have been driving it now with no leaks and no issues! I still get under the truck periodically and check since they initially replaced mine with a faulty part and I had power steering fluid going everywhere.

2011 LX570 steering rack replaced last week. Noticed seepage at the boots at 100k, rack replaced with new outer tie rods at Lexus dealership with alignment, all covered under FordPremiumcare warranty. Total bill to warranty- $4300, bill to me- $100 deductible.

Mine was the first failure of this type that I had heard of for the 200 series, 86K miles BTW.

It will be interesting to see if more are to come...

Which CPO warranty was this covered under? I have a Toyota Certified truck and it was like pulling teeth over this past few weeks to get them to cover a caliper replacement (seized piston - can't imagine why it was pulling to the left!) even though I had complained about the brakes every time I had brought the truck into the dealer.

Moreover, the bumper-to-bumper expires after 12 months or 12,000 miles - we have already exceeded the mileage - and now we're just left with the 100k drivetrain warranty, with the truck currently at 66k miles.

Does the steering rack count as a drivetrain component? Or are you guys using a) a different CPO warranty or b) doing this within the first 12 months/12k of ownership (even at 99k miles?)

@mcgaskins - Mine was from normal driving. No real wheeling. My 100 series provides that... oh, and it still has its original 2002 steering column.

My truck is under the regular CPO warranty that I purchased from the dealer when I got the truck from Toyota. The warranty is a $0.00 deductible and provides a rental car at no cost. There are a few options at Toyota when you are purchasing a CPO vehicle, I have the option that covers bumper to bumper up to 100k. The truck was bought with 68k on it when it was certified.

As far as use, it sees a gravel road once a month but it mainly is a family transporter.

I thought it was kind of funny that they did not cover the $99.00 alignment.

Interesting - so that's a 3rd party aftermarket warranty? I wasn't offered anything like that directly from Toyota via their CPO process.

I looked at the paperwork and it says Toyota on the top but Fidelity warranty service on the bottom of the documents.
