Just researching rebuild of hj75 steering gear box. A needle bearing installation tool sst 09630-0001 would sure be handy. Has anyone used a contemporary tool to do it please? Any pics please?

There are countless bearing and seal sizes and variations in where you need to apply force to install the component.

The best option is to make a tool to fit what you are doing. This would be a bar of any alloy steel turned in a lathe to center inside the bearing with a shoulder to push the bearing in.

Pay attention to the inside corner radius formed by the lathe tool to ensure it doesn't deform the needle bearing shell.

Sometimes you can simply use a socket. Deep sockets seem to be easier to work with, but any will do. Size for size impact sockets tend to be slightly thicker walled giving you more size options.

That said, I usually do as PIP suggests.

I reckon if I see a set of used kukko internal bearing pullers for a good price I would grab them, they look good quality..any happy stories with an equivalent brand?
