Well, 2800 miles later and none the worse for wear, Except for getting stuck in norcal twice in one week

two questions:

1.at 40-55 mph on long sweeper curves my steering wheel seems to catch on something and as I apply a bit more force it pops free..........????????
I have checked all the steering U joints and when it is up on stands there is no catch. The catch feels like there is a marshmallow stuck in the steering box(i.e. soft catch soft release, no popping grinding or other suspect noises, Any ideas?????

2. The first time I got stuck was in this little snowcovered meadow with about 1.5" of snow
I pulled into it to see how the tires gripped on snow. well in the process of turning around I experience some wheel slippage, so I lock up the cdl.............nothing...... so I shift to low........still no light and no traction, no front locker no rear nothing.......... so I buried myself with 1 and a half tires spinning on a very gentle slope
so after we get my brothers chevy unstuck, (he was stuck worse than me but he has the clearance to air down and he pulls me out, I say "what is supposed to happen is this light is supposed to come on" and lo and behold, there is the light with the cdl and lockers working perfectly 5 mins after being unstuck.  WTF
Any ideas? I checked out the switch and must have pushed it 30 times while stuck with no light and it has worked perfectly since.
thanks for the help
Dan

just an idea, take a look at the stering stabilizer, whoever last did the alighnment on mine left the bolts facing in and it scrubs, it long ago dented/wore a groove in the case, no feel in the steering as far as I can feel.

WAG: coudl also be something in the stabilizer you coudl try temporaily removing it and see if it goes away, if that does not fix next possibility is the trunion bearings, if they have never been replaced it may be time, a birf repack should also be done when the trunion bearings are done.

birf job was done by PO and stabilizer isn't rubbing, but it is due to be replaced... I'll give it a try
thanks!
Dan
