I have a leak in my steering box, I think it's right near the bottom at the pitman arm. Other than removing the arm, is it a fairly simple job to replace the output seal? Can it be done with the box on the truck?

Thanks

Ray

I'm sure 2mbb can post a picture, but the FSM shows from outer to inner, an oil seal, snap ring, spacer, o-ring, Teflon ring, and then the bearing, with the shaft running through the middle.

It looks like you would need to remove the cover on the top to remove the shaft and then the seals from the bottom. Probably not very easy to do on the vehicle. FWIW, removing the entire gear box is relatively easy.

Gotta rebuild the whole thing. Not a huge deal. in the tech section there is a writeup on it
