I helped a friend raise the front end of his wife's 2000 FJ100 about a week or so ago, via the torsion bar preload method, and now they're reporting a serious binding in the steering. Ride height was taken from approx 19.5" axle-to-fender distance (stock) to around 21" (1.5" lift, +/- 0.25" from one side to the other to also attempt to balance some pre-existing lean).

After the binding was felt, the T-bars were relaxed to the original ride height, but the steering symptoms remain. Anyone have any ideas as to what is occuring here, and what the fix could be?

Thanks, all.

I' just did the exact same thing with the torsion bars adjusting to level at about 21.5" and then back down to 19.5", and the steering binding is freaking me out. I did put 1.25" spacers on the front, but I can't believe that would have this dramatic of an effect...anyone out there have a clue on this?
