I just purchased a 1999 LC that is stock all the way. Considering new wheels and I am looking for guidance. Lots of threads out there and I prefer a rockcrawler style powder coated steel wheel. I like the simplicity of the look. I don't need to put a certain size wheel eventually I will have 33 BFGs all the way around and I intend to have a 5th wheel on a swingout tire carrier so I will need a total of 5 wheels. I don't are if they are aftermarket, in fact, those will be much easier

Is there anything you need help with in particular? Your thread is more of a statement than a question. Search Tundra wheels in the search box, there are some wheels described that fit your wants. Otherwise, you could hit up a any of a kerbillion vendors for a set of rock crawler wheels that fit the hundred series.

I like the rugged looks of them as well but aren't they generally heavier than cast aluminum wheels and a pain to get balanced?

Are they even hub centric? Sorry, never ran steels in my life.

Who are you REZARF, Alex Trebek? Didn't know I needed to ask in the form of a question. Why are there always participants on every forum that get snarky with what is a simple request for others experience or guidance? Thanks.

Hmmm... 8 vs 3,297. Dude, we might say the same about you.

But, to your, uhm... topic. The steel wheels - both 16" and 18" are very popular. There are a few styles. Most fit. Some don't. Do a quick search and see if your topic is covered. If there's anything not covered - fire away. And yes, the requests for info in the form of a question do work a bit better.

I think his comment came as a result of your post sounding like wondering out loud. It sounds like you know what you are after, you found some wheel threads, you don't need a specific size wheel, and you prefer aftermarket. Some forum members get aggravated when new threads are created that relate to topics that have been extensively covered in other threads.

You could get some tundra steel 18" wheels on the cheap on craigslist and have them powder coated. If not, there are a lot of wheel options in the market.

. . . a couple other options:
  • Post up in the Tire and Wheel Tech forum (even though the question is specific to the 100 series)
  • Copy and paste the following into Google - 100 series rock crawler wheels site:ih8mud.com

Thanks for the replies. There is A LOT of great LC on this forum. A cursory search didn't reveal any aftermarket recommendations and the issues to consider with this approach. There are a litany of threads on tundra take offs and those options out there. I'm new to the forum and patience with its nuances might be an approach to make neophytes feel welcome. I get that is probably not what the 3k reply participant wants to read about but rather than send out an insult to a new member just ignore the post completely. Thanks for the info.
