I have been considering using this product ( or similar) as preventative maintenance for my head gasket. I am having no issues with it now and figured it couldn't hurt. It is a 94 with about 156,000 miles.

Anyone ever use this stuff or have any comments otherwise?

It won't help anything, it may plug up the radiator or other water passages. Don't do it.

X2 it wont help anything, if your concerned, replace it.

I wouldn't put anything other than coolant/water in the coolant system, unless you are trying to limp home or get by for a few days until you can replace a failing HG... you may end up clogging coolant passages and such. Not a great idea, IMHO.

That's not so much PM. I would not use it. If it ain't broke... On the other hand you could schedule some down time, pull the engine and gasket slap/ reseal the whole thing. I just did a HG and didn't have money to do more. Now I have the money and my bottom end leaks oil. Shoulda, woulda... Looks like I'll be doing what I can from under my rig.

I wouldn't do it even to limp home. Causes nothing but problems.

Hey guys, just to clarify, I am not talking about that tube of metal particles you dump into your radiator to repair a leak.

The name brand is "Steel Seal". It is headgasket repair in a bottle. I hear it works.
There are no particles floating around; it is purely liquid.

I don't think that will change the advice you get here.

If it clogs the hole in the head gasket, it also must get into the water pump, thermostat, water temp sensor, radiator. Add it up, a lot of parts to fix! If it was a $500 beater car that you wanted to get another 5k miles out of I would say go for it.
